“What to Pack” posts are definitely some of my favorite posts to read. Today I’m bringing you a practical packing guide for your honeymoon. All items are linked at the bottom of this post!
A Comfortable (& Reliable) Swimsuit
The currents in Hawaii are unlike any other I’ve experienced. Locals are quick to warn tourists about the dangers of getting swept up and being taken out to sea. So, my advice to you is, yes, bring a cute swimsuit that you love. But also bring one that can withstand the waves of the Pacific Ocean. If you’re like me and you enjoy standing in the ocean and braving the waves, wear a swimsuit that isn’t going to be thrown off, taken down, etc., when a wave (inevitably) knocks you down.
It’s your honeymoon, your vacation. You can make the trip as leisurely or adventurous as you please. A lot of the hotels make it so that you don’t ever need to leave the resort unless to go explore other parts of the island. That said, you might get the urge to go explore the Haleakala Volcano (insert link), or take an evening sunset stroll, and you’ll want to be prepared. Daniel & I opted for a walk every night after dinner, but we mistakenly wore sandals. Our feet ached and our sandals are now on their last leg, so to speak. Take my advice and bring at least one pair of shoes you’d feel comfortable walking or exploring in.
I’m not one for dresses, even at the beach. Instead, I like to opt for a nice top in a pretty pastel to style with a nice pair of pants or classy jeans.
You will still get a tan, even if you’re wearing 50+ SPF. Take it from someone who loves to be tan. The sun is strong in Hawaii. Wear your sunscreen.
