Finding The Perfect Petite Tee: Pt 1

May 8, 2018 2 Comments

Ever since middle school, I’ve been considered “short”. Now, at 26, I’ve reached my peak height at 5’2” (not even, if I’m being honest). While some petite women have no trouble finding tops that fit just right, I do not share that luxury. The top is either too long in length and too tight in the arms, or the neckline is too large and doesn’t fit my shoulders properly. As an avid tee wearer, I decided enough is enough, and went on the hunt to find perfect form fitting tees for all of my petite lovelies! And the best part? They won’t break the bank!

The Boyfriend Tee

As someone who strongly dislikes tight shirt sleeves, the boyfriend tee is a perfect solution for me! Boyfriend tees are great for petite women, as you can tie them up if they’re too long, while still leaving plenty of room to move about. I love the different options Old Navy offers. But be warned, Old Navy shirts (almost) always shrink in the wash, so I always size up. These three tees are lightweight & perfect for everyday errands. I’ve even worn them to work out!

Shrinks in the wash, so size up

Boyfriend Linen-Blend Pocket Tee | Old Navy
Size: Petite Large
Shrinks in the wash, so size up
You will need a cami underneath

Rounded Neck Tee

Rounded neck and v-neck tees are a great option for petites, as the shirt adds a little torso height to our small frame. The sleeves on these tops are a bit tighter, but they’re some of the most comfortable I’ve ever owned! They’re lightweight, a little stretchy, and perfect for spring & summer!

You will need a cami if wearing the white

Peplum Tee

From the moment I tried my first peplum top, I’ve been sold. Not only does the peplum add length to a petite waist, it’s extremely flattering, as well. This is one of my favorite peplum tees. (I’m hoping Nordstrom restocks other colors for the Anniversary Sale in July!) The neckline is a perfect size, as it isn’t large enough to broaden your shoulders! The shirt is a bit heavier than the Caslon Round Neck Tees, but still a great choice for transitioning into summer!

Jersey Slub Tee

This shirt does not come in petite, but I wanted to try it anyway. I ended up purchasing it in this striped combo, as well as plain black. I love both! Although it’s a bit long in length, it looks great tucked in at the waist. I have a very short torso, so I usually can’t tuck shirts into the waist without it looking odd. This tshirt takes care of that! Since the shirt is not petite, the neckline is wider than usual, but I haven’t found it to be an issue or uncomfortable.

Slub Jersey Tee | H&M

Size: Small Regular
Shrinks only a little in the wash, no need to size up
You will not need a cami

That’s it for Part 1 of Finding The Perfect Petite Tee! Stay tuned as I continue the hunt this summer! Are there any petite tees you love? Let me know in the comments below!

Excellent blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers?

I’m planning to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many options out there that I’m completely overwhelmed ..
    Any ideas? Thank you!
