Home Office Tour | Winter 2019

January 21, 2019 2 Comments

Happy Monday, friends! Today I’m sharing my Home Office tour! As an online student & blogger, I work from home every single day. It’s important for me to have a space that is not only functional, but joyful as well. I need my home office to stand on its own, not feel like an extension of another room in the house. That’s why the color scheme & decor of my office space is different than any other area of our house. It might look a little funny, but it’s my corner of happy.

My mom gifted me this coffee cup warmer for Christmas and I’m honestly wondering where it’s been all my life (ha!). When I sit down at my desk with a cup of coffee, it always gets cold while I’m working. So, I’m bound to either have to take a break and warm it up in the microwave, or let it be cold and go to waist. This coffee cup warmer is an essential if you’re like me and find yourself with half a cup left of cold coffee.

This cubby organizing unit next to me is a must, since my desk only has two small drawers. I keep items that spark the most joy for me on top: A frame of my best friend & husband, a cute vase, my favorite candle, and books that inspire me. I mail a lot of letters & generally have a decent amount of orders to send back each month, so I needed to have a place for my mailing supplies. I also have a file organizer for my semester textbooks & the mail that needs to be filed away in the larger cabinet.

My best friend gifted me this “Amy / Tina” mug for Christmas & I’m obsessed. I drank coffee from it, but was sad I wasn’t seeing it or using everyday. So, I decided to use it as my pen holder!

I use these blue light glasses as a means to protect my eyes from the harsh computer light. I’m an online student & blogger, so I do everything from a computer. It’s imperative that I protect my eyes!

My best friend created the most meaningful copper “Petite Wander” emblem for me for Christmas! I love seeing it everyday as I work on the blog. I like to keep my Bible and devotional, “Embraced,” in sight as a reminder for me to read them, as my goal has been to read a chapter everyday.

Helpful Tips:

1. You do not need to go out and buy all new decor when revamping an area of your home or office. Instead, exchange decor with another room in your home. A few of the pieces you’ll see around my desk were actually in our master bathroom last year.

2. Pick your color scheme. I have a white desk with black legs, so I chose white shelving units and black frames. I decided on pink as my accent color, since I already have so much pink decor around the house that never seems to fit anywhere well! And, my best friend gave me the cutest & truest pink & white mug for Christmas, so pink was an obvious choice!

3. If you’re working from home, angle your desk in a way that makes you feel the most productive. For me, this changes every few months. Right now my desk is turned sideways against the wall, and I now face the side of my husband’s desk. This works out well for us because it allows him to more easily show me projects he’s been working on from his monitor. Having my desk sideways also allows room for my storage cubby unit to be next to me, instead of in the middle of the room where we had it before. Keeping necessities nearby can be so essential when trying to keep a space clean. You’ll be less likely to let papers pile up if you’re close to your filing system.

That’s it for my Home Office Tour! I hope you found it helpful! How do you decorate your home office? Let me know in the comments below!
