Today I’m sharing my capsule wardrobe plan for the months of January and February.
Why A Capsule Wardrobe? As a means to start shopping my closet instead of shopping in stores, I have decided to create a capsule wardrobe for myself. The items I will wear are not the only clothing pieces that I own; they are, however, the most worn and most versatile pieces in my closet. My goal is to continue creating capsule wardrobes for each month, thus finding out which pieces I wear the most, and which I no longer need. Materialism and consumerism are at an all time high. My husband and I have set financial goals for ourselves that require less frivolous shopping and more intentional buying. This does not mean we have cut out shopping completely; it simply means we THINK and PLAN before we buy.
Choosing the pieces and creating the outfits took a lot of prep work, including asking myself two pivotal questions:
1. What type of clothing do I actually wear on a regular basis? There are plenty of Capsule Wardrobe boards on Pinterest; the biggest question to ask yourself is what are YOUR needs? What do YOU wear? Capsule Wardrobes are about embracing your style, not changing it.
2. What colors do I gravitate towards the most? I love a white tee, so I have multiple in my Capsule Wardrobe. It’s okay to have fewer color variations and more style variations (i.e., two different styles of white tees).
My Capsule Wardrobe Plan Explained: As you see from the photos below, I have included 7 tops, 3 bottoms, 3 shoes, and 2 accessories. Outwear and accessories will not be pictured as much, since they are specifically just for wearing outside. My jewelry selection is excluded from the capsule wardrobe. Loungewear, exercise clothing, and pajamas are also excluded.
I hope this helps you to feel that you already have all you need! Or, I hope that it aids you in shopping for the pieces you need!
